- What Is Cosplay?: Cosplay, short for "costume play," is a hobby in which participants design, construct and wear costumes of their favorite anime, gaming or film/television characters. Some cosplayers create their own unique characters too. Conventions take place throughout the year in many countries, which are a great time to wear and show off your creative and dramatic side, in masquerades, contests or just for the fun of it. Cosplay involves many facets of creativity from art and design, engineering, manufacturing, sewing, hair styling, makeup, photography, acting, dancing, singing, modelling and performance.
